Packing for travel can sometimes prove to be a daunting task. Most of us would love to pack our entire closet for trips. Unfortunately, with the ever growing baggage checking prices it is essential to pack minimally. Essentially, it is a good idea to pack a few key items that can be mixed and matched with other items. I generally take shoes and accessories that can be worn with more than one look. When traveling, I like to have all of my looks planned ahead of time. I generally don’t like to depend on piecing looks together once I reach a destination. Pre planning looks also assists in effective packing.
I have put together a few travel friendly looks and you can see that I utilized the same 3 pairs of shoes for all the looks. The first two looks are the airport looks. When traveling, regardless of your method of travel, comfort is key. Items such as leggings, tunics, slouchy fitting blouses and dresses are perfect for travel and can still be chic.
Below are two looks that I put together for day. Both of the looks are casual chic. I selected comfy shoes in case your travel day entails a great deal of walking.
Below are the two night looks. Most of the pieces are black and I added a few statement pieces in color. Neutral colors tend to be better for travel, limiting your color palette to select colors allows more opportunity to mix and match pieces. This allows you to better utilize your wardrobe. Darker colors are also less likely to stain, which is always beneficial on the go.
- Winter travel can be challenging because the pieces tend to be heavier and weigh more. You can wear a few of the heavier pieces on the flight to save some space. For instance if you are taking boots, a heavy coat or sweater. Also you can pack some of the heavier pieces in your carry on.
-Layering is essential for winter travel. The temperatures in most places change drastically from day to night. You want to be prepared for these changes.
